Year of the Rabbit

Did you know that Chinese Lunar New Year always starts on a new moon? 🌚 A new moon is today January 22nd (Gregorian calendar of course) and this is The One starting New Year 4721 in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, year of the Rabbit in the element of Water. Posted here is a selection of my graphite Astroportraits which feature magical people born in Year of the Rabbit. 🐰 I also include the monthly changing Greek and daily changing Mayan zodiacs together with the yearly changing Chinese zodiac in all my Astroportraits. 💫

I too am a Rabbit. I have only sketched my own Astroportrait small in a sketchbook. I’ve not drawn my own full size ever like what I offer for others. And I’ve been drawing Astroportraits for 10 years now! People often project on to me that I must be sooo full of myself. How could I not be to dare to keep thinking I have some talent worth giving anything for? How much more SUPERIOR to everyone must I think I am to “expect” anything out of a “hobby” I’ve dedicated my life to? It’s that kind of poison that has seeped into me that makes me hold myself back as to not hurt others egoes and to “keep my own ego in check” when really I’ve absorbed shame and disrespect myself in the name of “humility” else be humiliated back into “my place”. Neglecting to draw my own Astroportrait while I’ve completed dozens of others is just one evidential result of trying to keep myself humble enough to be loved.

It’s my year finally. May the Water element of my fluffy rodent Star symbol cleanse that pollution from my soul this year! Only comes every 12 years. So I’m setting a resolution to draw my own Astroportrait this year and further embody being so “superior” as the haters have named me which I’ve reclaimed. That’s the kind of powerful shadow work that has been tasked to this life of mine. To take part in my magic and get your own Astroportrait visit my store for commissions.
